We’re really excited to bring you our brand new website: we’ve been working hard to build and create a rich resource of information, support and inspiration for all of you! Please take some time to explore what we have to offer here as we hope that it will provide you with useful information about our work, whether you’re a person with learning disabilities or a carer.
Our hopes for this website
We have listened carefully to feedback that you have given to us over recent months and understand that what you want from our site is reliable information, practical, up-to-date advice and inspirational, personal stories from and about people just like you. It can be very lonely and isolating to have a learning disability or to be a parent or carer for someone who has a learning disability and having a resource like our website available at the touch of a button can – we hope – be a great source of comfort and support.
Whether you want some advice on what to do when your child is diagnosed with a learning disability (or if you are struggling to get a diagnosis), need help to find out about activities and support available in your local area or simply want to hear from other people about what it’s really like to live (and thrive) with a learning disability, you can find all you need here.
Thanks to contemporary technology, you can access our site whenever you need it and wherever you are on your mobile devices or in the comfort of your own home. We hope you’ll agree that the time we’ve spent researching the best way to bring you this resource has been worth it and that you will find the site accessible and relevant to your life.
Here at Assured Housing Association, we’re pretty pleased with how well the website works, but we’re always thinking of ways to improve it even further: sometimes these ideas wake us up in the small hours! We need your help in the form of feedback and we will be monitoring how you all make use of the different sections on the site to make sure that it provides the best fit for your needs. Please give us your honest opinions on what you like and what you think we could do better – and feel free to offer any suggestions for features you would like to see on our site!
Keep checking back for some new features we’re working on, which will be revealed as soon as we’re happy with them. For example, we want to launch our own community online so that everyone with learning disabilities, their family members, carers and professionals can all communicate with and learn from each other.
Our goal is to create a comprehensive site that covers all the topics that you want to know more about and that provides valuable, trustworthy advice and information on everything from help with social housing and benefits, to specialist information about learning disabilities and fundraising ideas.
Welcome to our website – we hope you enjoy it!
